RULES & Eligibility

All contestants must meet the following criteria:

  1. A writer, director, or producer with an authentic perspective who pursues their own creative voice and vision.

  2. Submit an application that includes:

    • Contact information

    • Viewing link to your short film (<20 minutes) or PDF to your script (20 pages or less)

    • Briefly describe your connection to Florida

    • Briefly describe how you will be using the grant

    • Pay an application fee of $25 (check FilmFreeway for discounts)

  3. The entrant must be 18 years or older.

We understand storytellers come from various backgrounds, levels of expertise, and genres.

Judges will look for storyteller’s who are committed to three tenets:

  • Pursue their own creative voice

  • Invoke emotional responses from the readers (fear, laughter, sadness, angst, etc.)

  • Value the importance of pacing to keep readers engaged

Things to keep in mind:

  • We do not retain any rights to the short film

  • Directing teams can submit a script, but only the one submitter will receive the cash prize

  • Judges are not made aware of the submitter's name

  • Answers to how the grant will be spent are not included in the judging process

  • The selected winner may be asked to show proof to ensure they meet the following criteria

  • 100 Voices of Florida is a grant initiative started by Floridian sisters who teamed up to bring more opportunities to Floridian filmmakers. It a call to how diverse Florida is. Whether you live in a big city on the coast or a small town in northern Florida, we want to showcase your vision. For every 100 submissions, we will grant one winner! That means there can be multiple winners per season and celebrate more creatives.

  • Follow us on Instagram or TikTok — and sign up for our email list below for reminders.

  • Online via our website or FilmFreeway (discounts available).

    When submitting the application via our website, the system will automatically provide a section for you to upload your script after payment information is entered.

  • Interested filmmakers must be 18 years or older and establish their connection to Florida.

    Directorial or writing teams are able to submit, but, at this time, we are only able to provide the grant to the individual who submitted the application.

    Selected winner(s) may be asked to show proof to ensure they meet the criteria. Pease review the “Rules and Eligibility” section for more information.

  • Participants are required to submit an application by July 31 at 10pm ET that includes:

    • contact information,

    • Viewing link of the short film or PDF to the screenplay,

    • briefly describe your connection to Florida,

    • pay an application fee of $25 (visit FilmFreeway for discounts).

  • Yes, but you must submit an application per short film or script.

  • Short films may be in another language but must have English subtitles.

    All short scripts must be in English.

    One of the things we love about growing up in Florida is its cultural mix, so we hope to see a variety of ideas on the page.

  • Standard contest rules. By submitting an application, the entrants & winner consents to: 100 Voices of Florida’s use of entrants’ names, likenesses, photographs, and/or film stills and clips for promotional without further payment or consideration. All uses of a entrants’ information are in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

  • It is unlikely to respond to each participant, but regularly check your inbox for updates.

    Finalist(s) and winner(s) will be contacted via email to the address provided in the application. Please check Junk folder to be safe.

    Selected finalist(s) and/or winner(s) may be required to:

    • sign a notarized affidavit and release form

    • proof of government ID

    • provide documents of film agreements and/or

    • sign an agreement stating you will include our logo in your film's intro sequence.

    Failure to respond to the initial notification within three (3) days will result in disqualification.

    Should your submission be awarded funding, you are not obligated to accept it until and unless other agreements are made.
